One of Apple Music’s most recent efforts sheds light on how the deaf get their musical tastes. Apple Music’s “A Playlist Curated by Deaf People” was created with the help of deaf curators. These curators were tasked with discovering their favorite songs.
To sense a song’s impact, you don’t have to hear every note or phrase exactly. There are many methods for Deaf people to enjoy the enchantment of music. These include dancing, feeling the bass and treble vibrations through your skin. It also includes tapping along to the rhythm the beats generate as they flow through your body.
Popular singers like Kirk Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and Tyler the creator, etc. made the cut in this wide-ranging playlist. Based on the reception this playlist has acquired, one can only agree to the popular saying “music is a universal language”.
A lot of these music curators stated that the distinct vibration gotten from the instruments played in these songs serve a major factor in how much they enjoy them. Other curators have stated that they were able to have an understanding of the songs by reading the singer’s lips.
Still, there are others who prefer to dance and are able to assess the danceability of a track. This is possible due to their ability to feel. The sound waves produced through the drum sounds and tune creates a distinct feeling as they travel through space.
This playlist has been produced by Deaf individuals in honor of the original Apple TV+ film CODA. Deaf individuals from all across the country have taken their time to express how they perceive music and what it means to them. We have also produced a list of their favorite songs.
