5 Nollywood Actors That Sing

It’s no news that Nigeria is blessed with talented individuals that can do more than one thing and excel at it. On one hand, we have popular Nigerian artists that have featured in blockbuster movies: For instance, Davido featured in Coming to America 2, Reminisce featured in the Nigerian fast-selling movie, King of Boys and Falz in Merry Men and Quam’s Money, to mention a few. On the other hand, we have successful Nigerian actors who do not only act but have swerved towards music at one point in their lives. Keep reading to find out 5 of the many Nollywood actors that sing.

1. Gabriel Afolayan

2. Broda Shaggi

The multi-talented comedian and actor, Samuel A. Perry unknowing to many, is also a songwriter and musician with a number of singles in his bag. Broda Shaggi is a graduate of Creative Arts from the University of Lagos who is popular for his comedy skits and role in several top Nigerian movies. His songs include “Okoto ” ft. Zlatan Ibile, “Happy Day”, “Weekend Vibe ” and “Nor Nor” among others, and he is signed to Rim Media Record Label.

3. Basket Mouth

Award-winning Comedian and Actor, Bright Okpocha, better known as Basket Mouth is not just an actor but a record label owner with an album to his name. Basket Mouth launched his record label, Barons World Entertainment in 2014 and went on to release a highlife album titled Yabasi featuring top Nigerian artists like Ladipoe, BOJ, The Cavemen, Bez, Waje, Duncan Mighty, Flavour and Phyno in November 2020, as a soundtrack for his popular series Papa Benji. 

4. Efa Iwara

Surprisingly, Efa Iwara, one of the most celebrated actors in the Nigerian entertainment industry started out his career in the music industry in 2016 when he performed with a group of 5 artists called X-Factor. Efa released his first EP, Waka EP in 2011 and his last official single “Fall in Love ” featuring Plantashun Boiz in 2014. He is now known for his splufik acting skills. 

5. Ray Emodi

As stated on his Instagram bio, Ray makes movies, music and love, and he enjoys all 3. Born to a Nigerian politician and former senator, Joy Emodi, Ray Emodi is a successful Nigerian actor, musician and film producer who has appeared in many movies. He has released a number of songs such as “Night Time” ft. Ouma Ibrahim, “Would You”, “Give Her Ring” ft. Shakar EL, 5PM and “The Youth” to mention a few. Ray describes his music style as pop with a dose of fun and honesty.
