Where Is Mattmax?

Where Is Mattmax? Pin It

Mattmax is a Nigerian music video director, cinematographer, commercial director, and filmmaker. He started his career in 2005 and he is the CEO and owner of Mattmax Productions.

Mattmax studied Computer Science at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos. After college, he studied visual effects on the internet. According to him, “Everything I know today is self-taught, stumbling on the internet here and there.”

The music video director founded a film institute ‘Mattmax Film Academy’ to prepare and encourage students to participate in a world increasingly shaped by moving pictures.

He has worked with several top artiste across an array of genres including Timaya, Terry G, Olamide, Burna boy, J.martins, Dj Xclusive, Dj Spinall, Omawumi, and Waje. He started his career when he was approached by artiste Slim Joe to direct his music video for the jam ‘o to yanyan”. The feedback from that video blew Mattmax mind and he decided that he wasn’t going to stop there.

He shot Olamide’s “Voice of the street” and D Banj’s “Don’t tell me nonsense”, putting him in the spotlight. His videos have received several nominations and awards, including seven nominations at the Nigerian Music and Video Awards and was listed as one of the top ten Nigerian Music Video Directors by popular blog Naijaloaded.

These days, we have seen little of Mattmax in the industry and we’re wondering, where is he? Is he more concentrated on his film institute that he doesn’t have time to make music videos again?
