Marlian Music signee, Zinoleesky, has finally released his anticipated debut Extended Playlist which he titled “Chrome Eccentric”
Oniyide Azeez, popularly known by his stage name, Zinoleesky is a Nigerian fast rising singer, songwriter, stage performer and recording artiste. He came into limelight alongside is friend ‘Lil Frosh’ during the “Fi Ri Yahoo’ era.
After turning down an offer from Davido Music Worldwide, Zinoleesky decided to follow his heart and got affiliated with Marlian Music along with 4 others in late 2019. His first single under the record received lukewarm reception “Caro” which was produced by Rexxie.
Early 2020, he released a new tune that caught the attention of fans. ‘Marapiwo‘ which tells us a Love story about an affair that is meant to be made secret, was able to make Zinoleesky a force to be reckoned with in the industry and gave other upcoming artiste something to chew on. It received massive plays and fan’s love. Recently he dropped a new single titled “KILOFESHE” produced by Niphkeys.
Now he is back with a full body of work. On the Chrome Eccentric EP, we have 6 tracks (4 new songs and 2 already released : MAPARIWO, KILOFESHE). Chrome Eccentric encompasses all that Zinoleesky has been through up until the release of the EP.
The EP starts out with “Angeli Mi” . The 2 minutes and 34 seconds song is about his life and his journey with the hardship and difficulties he has faced before being exposed to fame and stardom. It’s a blend of Afrobeat with Hip Hop.
The next track “Won Wa Mi” which means I am being sought after in the Yoruba language, has a Bella Shumurda vibe to it. It talks about how he is a sought after act because he is the “Americana wonder”. The next track “Mapariwo” is not new to us as it was released earlier this year in 2020. It is a sex-themed Afro-pop single became one of Nigeria’s sleeper hits of 2020.
Nitori e (translated because of you) is a love song about how the singer can do anything for his lover. He sings about how he can believe because of her and even spend his last money to make her happy. Production credit of this vibe goes to Tori Keeche.
“Kilofeshe”, another previously released track that means “what do you want to do” in the Yoruba language shows the cocky part of Zinoleesky as he sings about how he has seen and knows it all and nothing can come as a shock to him again. The last song on the EP is another love song titled ‘Bullet’. It is about doing the most for your lady.
Zinoleesky is a very talented musician. The project has a sonic cohesion characterized by mid-tempo Afro-pop, Amapiano and Afro-swing production. Also, a huge part of this production was delivered in Yoruba. I feel he should work more towards blending english and pidgin into his songs so he can have a wider fan coverage.
