Laburu has landed! Three years after the excellent outing for Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys, the anticipated sequel is out. Many critics had rave reviews for the seven-episode sequel and it is safe to say it broke the sophomore jinx.
Yours truly was one of the admirers of the sequel and I have nothing but praise for the entire cast. The most praise went to the musicians who gave memorable performances in the movie. It is not rare for musicians to have varying interests. There are musicians who have pursued acting and actors who became musicians. Hi Omotola!
On that note, here are the musicians who graced our screens in King of Boys: The Return of The King.
1. Illbliss
Tobechukwu Melvin Ejiofor popularly known as Illbliss, is one of Nigeria’s top hip-hop artists. He definitely picked his spots since his 2018 debut in Kemi Adetiba’s King of boys. Everyone expected his return in the sequel, King of Boys: The return of the king.
His character, Odogwu Malay, captured the hearts of many. Lastly, art students need to study how he managed to make us forget we were watching Illbliss the rapper. We look forward to seeing him in more movies.
2. Reminisce
The role of Makanaki for a first timer is intimidating, but Reminisce did justice. He earned praises from both viewers and critics with his sizzling show of skill and talent. Remilekun Khalid Safaru, also known as Reminisce, is one of the most versatile Nigerian artists.
Reminisce did more than capture the hearts of Nigerians when he appeared in Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys. The rap/Hip-hop artist reprises his role as Makanaki alongside his friend turned foe, Odogwu Malay in the latest Netflix King of boys sequel.
3. Charly Boy
The ‘Area Fada’ himself appeared in the King of Boys: The return of the king. Area Fada is always known for his tenacity and that is what made Odudubariba such a perfect fit.
Charly Boy’s character in Kemi Adetiba’s King of boy’s sequel is over the top, ruthlessly dangerous and he committed completely to the role.
4. Efa Iwara
Efa Iwara is a renowned Nigerian rapper with hit songs featuring the likes of Olamide and Praiz. His transition into acting has been smooth. His unassuming charm and subtle gravity has added him to the list of actors who have range.
He plays Dapo, a self-righteously moralistic and superior investigative journalist, in the King of Boys sequel.
