Falz receives backlash as one of the twitter user requests for an empirical evidence to substantiate his unfunded allegation on his country.
Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, appeared on CNN’s Christiane Amanpour show, where he educated the viewers on what the choas and uprising in Nigeria is all about.
He gave an overview of how the current #endsars protest started. He explained how the hashtag was all over social media but there was no physical protest. So himself and another artiste, Runtown, posted on their social media about how they were going to have a peaceful march against police brutality using the #endsars about two weeks ago.
We went out on a Tuesday, we were expecting close to fifty (50) to a hundred (100) people but we got about two thousand (2,000) people that came out on that very day and it was huge. From that day up, we didn’t have to call people to come out in other states. Everyone just trooped out on their own.
When asked what the police unit (SARS) is about and why everyone was against them, He was quick to respond about how the unit has become the opressor they are supposed to protect the citizens against. He said they are involved in all forms of violence and brutality.
They have been reforming the police for the longest time but we never see actual action. It’s insensitive.
Aren’t you afraid for your own safety? the CNN reporter asked. His answers were swift as he analysis how the lack of basic social amenities in the country could still lead to his loss of life.
Falz calls out to the government to stop dragging their feet and respond to the demands of the protesters.
