MUSICWORMCITY’S 2022 NEXT BIG NIGERIAN ARTISTS.

MUSICWORMCITY’S 2022 NEXT BIG NIGERIAN ARTISTS. Pin It

There is that year where every artist either creates a lifetime mark or does the usual. This is Musicwormcity’s prediction on the artists to create a lifetime sound in 2022.

Nigeria’s music industry felt the impact of some artists who thrived in their own sound in 2021. These music artists succeeded in creating a space; they also put in the work to sustain their success. Some of these artists who hit it big in 2021 are Daniel Benson ( Buju), vibe queen Ayra Starr, Mohbad, Bella Shmurda, and a host of others.

Here is a compilation of what we perceive to be 2022s next big music talent:

1 FAVE.

“It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, It’s what we do consistently. “The most applicable saying for Nigerian Star Godsfavour Chidozie, professionally known as Fave.

Starting as a chorister, she has honed her skills over time from the early days of the pandemic and prior. Fave utilized the Social media space, mainly Twitter. Over time, she consistently converted her online followers to fans from one freestyle video to her first single, “M.O.M.M.S., ” in 2019.

In 2020, she released another track titled ‘N.B.U.,’ giving her yet another shot at fame. In 2021, she made history when she appeared in the legendary rapper and music executive, Olamide’s album Uy Scuti after Bukunmi Olamide’s wife introduced him to her sound.

Favor released her hit single ‘Baby Riddim,’ an instant internet sensation gaining popularity on Tik Tok. This is followed by the release of the Empawa exclusive video of FAVE ‘Baby Riddim’, which currently has over a million views and counting on YouTube.

2. M.A.G.I.X.X.

It is no longer news that record producer Don Jazzy has a remarkable ability to spot raw talents. In the third quarter of 2021, Mavin Records announced Magixx as a new team member.

The former M.B.N. entertainment artist, who released his first track, “Mirror,” in 2018, has launched a brand new album titled “Magixx” under his new record label.

Although he isn’t all over people, face on Social media but his E.P. is doing great currently with over one million streams on Boomplay.

3. VEE

The BBNaija reality-TV show has become an indispensable conduit for talents to enter the entertainment industry. While many of Bigbrother Nigeria’s housemates have dabbled into music in the past, the show has only produced a handful of successful talents. British-born Nigerian singer Veeiye looks like one of such promising acts.

Before entering the Big Brother house in 2020, some of Veeiye’s projects are:  On and On, a solo album, Ecstacy with Afro B, and You Know with Don EE. These projects showed Veeiye’ abilities as a musician and songwriter.

Her recent project, Young and Restless E.P, released in October 2021, re-established her stature as a fiercely independent woman and lover of Love, ready to create her own space in the Nigerian music industry.

4. V.I.C.T.O.N.Y.

Better known as Victony, Anthony Victor is a singer and songwriter who went through a severe accident in April 2021. Because of his brilliant musical talent, he has managed to shine through tragedy.

At the beginning of his career, Victony was a rapper. He released a mixtape titled “The Outlaw King” on SoundCloud in 2017. Many of his fans still refer to him by that name today.

Victony’s timely collaboration with Mayorkun on ‘Holy Father’ is a  breakthrough after his single “Pray,” which was released shortly after the death of a friend and after complications with his health.

5. 1da Banton

In the beginning, 1da Banton’s ‘No Wahala’ was a slow flame but soon set social media ablaze with its unfiltered, hilarious, and candid response to random scenarios.

His ‘No Wahala hit,’ Ominibie Epelle, born Godson Ominibie Epelle, recently made the 2021 ‘On the Road’ playlist of U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. Epelle is a specialist in mellow Afropop tunes blended with dancehall.

The recent growth in popularity of 1da can be attributed to his 15-track debut album, Original Vibe Machine, which reeled out tunes in his softly appealing, diverse style. He featured talents like  Zlatan and Seyi Shay.

Although tons of existing and new artists will make waves this year 2022,  we believe these sets of artists will be the tides. What artist do you think will be the following enormous talent this year?
