It’s no longer news that Nigerian artists have good relationships with artists from all over the world, especially artists in the UK and US and they’ve collaborated with these artists to produce beautiful music time and time again. These collaborations have earned Nigerian artists such as Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy increased recognition in the international music scene. 1. Come Closer – Wizkid ft. Drake
Wizkid joined forces with Drake in 2017 to release the single “Come Closer”, a single off his Sounds From the Other Side album. The album won the Best R&B/Pop Album award at The Headies 2018 and the song, “Come Closer” featured on the Canadian Hot 100, Billboard US Rhythmic and US R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart among others.
2. Holy Ground – Davido ft. Nicki Minaj
Davido and Nicki Minaj teamed up for a collaboration in 2020 and released a hot single titled “Holy Ground”. The single was from Davido’s third studio album A Better Time, an album that also featured American artists like Chris Brown, Young Thug, Nas, Hit-Boy and Lil Baby.
3. Peaches (Remix) – Justin Bieber ft. Omah & Alpha P
Justin Beiber worked with Nigerian artists Omah Lay and Alpha P in 2021 to release the remix to his hit single, “Peaches”, a single off his Justice album. Justin Bieber also collaborated with Nigerian singer Burna Boy on the song Loved By You from the same album.
Brown Skin Girl – Beyonce ft. Wizkid
In 2019, Beyonce collaborated with Wizkid to release the single, “Brown Skin Girl” from her collaborative project The Lion King: The Gift. The song, “Brown Skin Girl”, won Wizkid a Grammy award for Best Music Video alongside Beyoncé, SAINt JHN and Blue Ivy Carter in 2021. The Lion King: The Gift album also featured Nigerian artists like Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Mr Eazi and Yemi Alade.
Get It Now (Remix) – Tiwa Savage ft Omarion
Tiwa Savage and American R&B artist Omarion worked together in 2018 to release a remix of the song. “Get It Now”, a track from her Sugarcane EP. The song is supported by a video that has over 15 million views on YouTube.
