Reekado Banks – ‘Off The Record’ Album Review Pin It
Reekado Banks. Mama ft Harmonize – Music Wormcity

Former Mavis Record Signe, Reekado Banks, has released his second studio project which he titles “Off The Record”

Off the Record comes after his previous project “Spotlight” album which was released in 2016. The EP has guest appearances from Mr Eazi, Tiwa Savage, Kida Kudz, Harmonize and others. It contains 7 solid tracks and runs for 22 minutes. It contains his 2019 hit song “Rora” and the two previously released single in 2020; ‘Need More‘ and ‘You Dey Mad‘.

Need more, the first song off the EP, features Kids Kudz and EO is an underrated afroswing record. It was released on September 25th 2020 and has gathered over 1million views. It was produced by Blaize Beats.

Happy Yourself comes next in which Reekado sings about how he is entitled to make himself happy regardless of what is happening around him. The music gleans the unsavoury situations around Nigeria to discuss the need to be happy and feel alright. With its raggae vibe, it shows how diverse reekado Banks can be.

Rora, the third song on the album is not new to us as he has released this song before the EP. Reekado is a very talented artiste and ever since he left Mavins, he has been using it to hold on his own. Rora was produced by Tuzi and the instrumentals gives off a Fela Vibe with its catchy beat.

Speak To Me could have done better but Reekado was able to pull it through with the lyrics in his verse. HE features Tiwa Savage in the jam and as usual, she delivered confirming further that she is the queen of features.

You Dey Mad was released some weeks back before the release of this EP on the 20th of November in which he features Attifaya. You Dey Mad is a song that critics people that lives fake life while condemning those that are real.

People Dey features Mr Eazi and it echoes of Ghanaian Afro-pop music. It talks about how people are not perfect but it doesn’t faze him as he is going to live his life in the best way possible. The last song on the EP is Mama featuring Tanzanian act Harmonize. It’s a very good record.
