Nigerian singer, Niniola Nigerian, who has gradually built an international profile since “Maradona” has revealed via her Instagram handle that her Colours and Sounds album has recently been voted in for Grammy consideration this year.
Niniola’s Colours and Sounds album which was released in 2020 with acts like Timbaland, Femi Kuti, Nonso Amadi, Afro B, Busiswaah, Sauti Sol, and Sarz.
Revealing this on her page, she said: “Hi, guys, my album ‘Colours And Sounds’ has been put up in 3 categories for Your Grammy Consideration voting… @recordingacademy members, thank you so much for your vote… This album was tailored to satisfy all your music needs.”
Niniola herself was inducted into the Recording Academy’s class of 2021, and she is also a voting member. The singer’s album has been put up for consideration in three categories; Best Global Music Performance, Best Global Music Album, and Best Music Video.
She has also gotten some accolades. After she competed on the 2013 edition of Project Fame and went on to release the song “Ibadi” on March 19, 2014 as her debut single. She was nominated for the Most Promising Act to Watch at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
Her 2017 hit song “Maradona” spent 13 weeks on South Africa’s Metro FM chart, retaining the number 1 position for 6 weeks. In 2019, elements of “Maradona” were sampled in “Find Your Way Back”, a song by Beyoncé‘s in the soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift. In the same year, she was given a Grammy Awards certificate for the album’s win in two categories; “Best Pop Vocal Album” and “Best Music Film”.
