R&B singer Chike has released another track titled “Nwoke Oma.” This time, it’s a song of hope rather than his niche; romance.
Nwoke Oma is an Igbo word meaning Good Person in English. The song tells the story of how success attracts. It explains the difficulty of getting genuine support during challenging times, but you become the majority friend once you find a way to change class.
“You can never trust anybody
They’re only there for the money
Protect your soul and your body
Don’t let anybody do you cunning…….”
“When you dey hustle, you go dey all alone
When you succeed, they go call you their own
Na because you don dey for the throne
They dey call you Nwoke Oma”.
Chike, who shared the background story of the song, said,
“On the 7th of July 2020, during the #Covid19 lockdown, @deeyassobeatz sent me a beat for #TuesdayNightSessions I held the mic, and #Nwokeoma came to me. It was a spiritual experience; this song means so much differently. It is a prayer, it is a prophecy, it is a celebration song… It will come to pass, and you will sit on your throne.”
He also tipped the fans of his sophomore album “The Brothers Keeper,” to be released in the first quarter of 2022.
