Folarin Falana, who was born on 27th day of October, 1990 is one of Nigeria’s outstanding rapper, song writer and actor. His journey began professionally in 2009, and till now, he has been making wave in the industry.
He is the only child of Femi Falana, who is a human rights activists and a legal practitioner. Femi Falana is married to Funmi who is also a lawyer and a women’s rights activist. Femi Falana was born on the 30th of December, 1958. He contested in the 2007 governorship elections for Ekiti state, but lost the political race.
Before he professionally established himself as an artiste in Nigeria, he initiated an all boys group called ‘THE SCHOOL BOYS’ with his friend. He later went on to release a compilation mixtape ‘Shakara’ in 2009.
FALZ the bad guy, as he is popularly called, has won a total of 8 awards and nominated for a whole lot more. 2016 City People Entertainment Award, Album of the Year; 9th Nigeria Music Video Awards, Best Afro Hip Hop Video; The Headies, best Collabo for Soldier to mention a few of his awards.
Falz wore his lawyer’s hat, sued the NBC (Nigeria Broadcasting Commission) a huge sum of N100million when his hit song “This is Nigeria” was banned on the account of being a vulgar song on the 6th of November, 2018
Falz is the pioneer of Wazup music. His style is Afro Hip-Hop: with a lot of humour and traditional indigenous Nigerian sounds fused with contemporary sounds.”
Folarin Falana does not consider himself a comedian despite his numerous skits and his alter ego.
The hit maker, loved by a lot of people for his inspiring tunes like “This is Nigeria” and “Child of the world” admits that life wouldn’t be the same without music. He says: “It’s my passion – what I really love and enjoy doing. I don’t see myself doing anything else for a living.”
The rapper is currently not in any relationship. There were talks about him being with Simi at a point in his career but all that has been put to rest.
One of the numerous reasons falz gained love and loyalty for people is his ability to make serious situations light. He has been known to drop popular slangs and skits. He is an entertainer that knows his fans.
