Akinbi Bamidele Brett, better known as Cheque, a talented Penthauze star, released his long-awaited first album named “Bravo” last Thursday, September 23rd. The 13-track CD is primarily comprised of love songs written by Cheque and mastered by Spax. In this beautiful love album, the 26-year-old Ondo State native demonstrates how far he has come as an artist.
Top music artists on the album include Ayra Starr on ‘Dangerous,’ Olamide on ‘LOML,’ Fireboy DML on the previously released smash song ‘History,’ and American rapper, Jackboy on ‘No One Else.’ Sweet Love, Anybody, Change, Call You Baby, Rockstar, Pray, Free, and Blind are among the other tracks on the album.
The album’s title appears to be inspired by the singer’s remarkable run since the release of ‘Zoom,’ his breakthrough single, in 2020.

Cheque began his music career while still in university in 2015. He was formerly signed to Cruel Station alongside Fireboy [then DML]. Before it ended in the last months of 2017, the deal earned him and DML an apartment. DML and Cheque then relocated to the home of a buddy who possessed recording equipment.
In 2019, DML became Fireboy DML and subsequently a YBNL artiste. Cheque regained his confidence before joining Penthauze. He now believes he is partially Igbo since he is associated with the Igbo Penthauze, but he is Yoruba. “I’ve been hearing that since I was at OAU, and I don’t take it seriously – I never did,” he adds. Yet, I am Yoruba.”
Cheque received a random DM from Phyno in the middle of 2018. His enthusiasm faded when he hadn’t heard from Phyno in a few months. Phyno returned with renewed vigor, and Cheque signed with Penthauze in February 2019.
